to sit—sat (irreg.) (no object) 
She sat in the back row.
to lay—laid (irreg.) (+ an object) 
He laid his coat on the sofa.
to lie—lay (irreg.) (no object) 
He lay awake for a long time. 
to lie—lied (reg.)
She lied to her husband, so she could 
go out.
to find—found (irreg.) (+ an object) 
He found a good job last week.
to found—founded (reg.) (+ an 
object) 
He founded the Centre for Journal-
ism Studies at University College in 
Cardiff.
to hang—hung (irreg.) (+ an object) 
He hung his coat on the hook.
to hang—hanged (reg.) (to kill as a 
punishment) 
They hanged him for murder.
