Abstract. The article deals with the theoretical principles of the scientific direction "Technosphere safety". The
study suggests that this scientific direction has emerged as an attempt to integrate various aspects of life safety issues,
rather than as a fundamentally new concept of safety. The article reveals the key moments of the current state of
theoretical foundations of the scientific direction "Technosphere safety", among which the gap between the theoretical
and practical/applied components of the direction, as well as the vagueness of the conceptual framework, eclectic
methodology and contradictory strategies of studying security issues. The authors conclude that it is necessary to
develop an integrative concept of technosphere, which should become the basis for the development of theoretical and
methodological foundations of the new scientific field "Technosphere safety".
Keywords: technosphere safety, life safety, technosphere concept.
