Paradox.
A perfect example of a statement ideas which can be observed or unlikely although it contains some truth in it. Ex. Ignorance is strange ; Freedom is a slavery; He is so ordinary that he is extraordinary. etc.


To the 2nd class of lexical phraseological stylistic devices are words which serve to identify fietches of phenomena. Similarly is used as a likeness. It’s based on likeness, resemblance. Ex. He is greedy as a wolf. Wolf is an object with whom we compare. The next component is a foundation, the ground of foundation. It’s may be clear by the context. The formal elements are : like, as as, as if. Verbs: Remind, resemble and etc words and phrases.
Ex.She is like a fox. From ordinary comparison there are 3 objects of the same nature. The sun is as good-looking as a mother. Similarities can be original, fresh,highly creative, poetical. “Lord of the flies” we can find some examples: For yards rounds the fire the heat was like a blow. And the breath was a river of sparks.
Idioms of comparison. Ex. as busy as a bee. As right as rain ( не дать, не взять),as cool as a cucumber.


Hyperbole. (Гипербола)


Kind of exaggeration. Ex. The girls were dressed to kill - Телки были разодеты в пух и прах.
I haven’t seen you for ages.
A woman of pocket size. To move as a snail’s pace.- двигаться как улитка.
Represents the renaming. Ex. The lion is a king of beast.
This devise has a long history. It was popular in latin poetry. To avoid repetition has more colorful, figurative, imaginative and often based on metonymy. It deepest our knowledge of the world around us. In the course of time some of the changes may undergo changes. In social or economic situations. Ex. Weaker sex - слабый пол. Flash and blood etc.
Figurative relations are unpredictable,are not in dictionaries and we need a long context to identify the meaning( to decode it)
Ex. She was still fat after childhood,the destroyer of her figure.
Euphemism. (Эвфенизмы)
Unpleasant word or expression which is bland and disagreeable by a more except one. It sound nice and may avoid bland truth. The prime minister was economical with a truth ( Путин врал)
Medical sphere. Ex. Ca (Cancer) Doctor (Dr.)
Sometimes euphemisms are used for manipulating or some other aims of public opinion.
