Translation and intercultural communication
Translation/interpretation has always been central to intercultural communication. Lack of knowledge of another culture may cause confusion, misunderstanding or even offense during communication process and it also makes the conclusion of international or bilateral agreements difficult or impossible.

Problems of translation of national sport names are mostly related to:
1) unfamiliarity with cultural expression
2) failure to achieve the equivalence in the second language
3) ambiguity of some cultural expressions,
4) lack of knowledge of translation techniques and translation strategies.
Among the most frequent ways of the translation calque, transliteration, functional replacement and also their combination serves as a key factor of translation while translating the new formation of terms. It is necessary to remember that the term is, as a rule, translated by the corresponding term of other language therefore such receptions as analogs, synonymic replacements, descriptive transfer, are used only when there is no corresponding term for the translation in language.
