Performed operations and work methods
Reception duty:
Gets acquainted with the plan for the upcoming work for the shift, the location of the rolling stock on the serviced tracks of the marshalling yard, paying special attention to the location of the cars with discharge cargo, and the presence of passages on the track. Checks the coupling, securing of cars and fencing of marshalling tracks. Number and serviceability of brake shoes. If faulty brake shoes are identified (a burst head, a warped and bent sole, a missing support plate, a burst, broken, flattened and bent toe of the sole, a loose attachment of the head from the sole, a bend, a break or the absence of a handle), he must take them to a specially designated place and replace them. Checks the condition of workplaces, cleanliness, order, informs the senior shoemaker about the results of the duty.
On duty.
Receives a task from the senior shoemaker to brake the cuts, indicating the order of arrival of the cuts on their serviced sorting tracks and the cuts that require special care when braking them.
Prepares the serviced tracks for work: checks their freedom from the side of the hump, the presence of guarding brake shoes, provides brake shoes taking into account the upcoming arrival of cuts, brings and lays out the brake shoes, prepares and checks the workplace for the dissolution of the next train.
By the beginning of dissolution it is on the maintained tracks.
In the process of disbanding the composition, the shoemaker:
- brakes the cuts, while ensuring that the speed of their approach to the cars standing on the tracks is not higher than the established one, and installs the cuts that require special care without collision;
- selects the location of the brake shoe, taking into account factors influencing the braking mode: the weight of the cut, the speed of the cut, the number of cars in the cut, the strength and direction of the wind, the type of car and their driving characteristics, the track profile, the degree of occupancy of the sorting track and other factors;
- monitors the availability of cars on a particular track and, when it is full, informs the senior shoemaker about this in advance;
- the brake shoe is placed on the rail using a special fork, while being at a safe distance from the approaching trailer;
- when braking long cuts, the second and subsequent shoes are laid after the first shoe leaves the guardrail. The location of the second and subsequent shoes, taking into account the reduction from braking by the first shoe;
- when braking a large cut (more than 3-4 cars), according to the experience of the shoemakers at the Radviliskis station, the brake shoe is placed under the wheel pairs of the cars of the tail half of the cut;
- provides assistance to shoemakers serving neighboring tracks during intensive movement of cuts to their area;
- closely monitors information about cuts, signals given by the hump duty officer, train compiler or shunting locomotive driver;
- in fog, light snowfall and rain, to enhance braking, sprinkle the rails with fine dry sand; in severe frosts and frost, to avoid “hard” braking, sprinkle the rails with coal dust or graphite;
- cleans the permanent braking positions and work area from dirt and debris, and in winter clears the rail head at the brake shoe installation site and the shoe runner from snow and ice;
- upon completion of the dismantling, protects the sorting tracks with brake shoes and reports to the senior shoemaker about the condition of the cargo on the open rolling stock, the degree of filling of the sorting tracks and the presence of brake shoes under the wheels;
- when settling, pulling up or rearranging cars, informs the train compiler about the presence of brake shoes under the wheels and removes the brake shoes enclosing the track, and in the process of coupling the cars, removes the brake shoes from under the ramps.
