Figure 3: Noise Test Setup
4.11.3 Procedure. A steel bar of Diameter (Ø) 8.0 mm ± 0.1 mm and length of 385 mm is dropped onto an
ENAW-5754 aluminum alloy plate of thickness 0.3 mm, from a height of 20 mm, exerting a force of 0.16 N. The
noise is measured by a Class 1 microphone, as specified by DS/EN 61672-1, positioned 50 mm over the impact
location. The noise is measured in the form of the sound pressure Level (Lsp) with frequency evaluation ʺAʺ and
time evaluation ʺSʺ. Measure the difference between the bar wrapped with adhesive tape and the unwrapped
bar. The measurement unit is Decibels (dB). Perform the test ten (10) times at the same location of the test
sample. If a trend toward lower silencing values appears, for example by compressing the sample, this shall be
noted in the test report. This test must be competed in a low-noise environment.
