4.10.2 Test Sample. Two wires with cross-section 0.35 mm
2
and with the same temperature class as the tape
are twisted and wrapped with 50% overlap by the tape to be tested. Prepare three (3) samples 300 mm in length
for each test fluid.
4.10.3 Procedure. Immerse the test samples in the test fluids in Table 3 for five (5) minutes. For battery acid,
the test sample shall be dipped for minimum of 5 s. This can be accomplished by creating a “Uʺ shape with the
sample and leaving the ends of the sample outside of the test fluid. Diesel fuel and gasoline are immersed or
sprayed onto the samples until dripping occurs. Store the test samples in an oven at the temperature listed in
Table 3 for 48 h. After that time, remove the samples and store them from 3 h to 16 h at room temperature. Bend
each sample around a 20 mm mandrel and visually inspect each sample for any cracks, tears, or melting of the
tape. Unwrap the wires, bend them around a 2 mm mandrel and visually inspect each sample for any cracks,
tears or melting in the wire insulation.
