TEXT: TASHKENT 
 
I live in Tashkent. It is the capital of Uzbekistan. Tashkent is an old city. It 
was founded 2000 years ago. In the old days it was a city of small clay houses and 
narrow streets.
Now Tashkent is a modern city. Over 6 million people live in it. Today 
Tashkent is a centre of industry, culture and science of the republic. There are 
numerous factories and plants in our city. They produce various goods for our 
country and for many other countries.
Tashkent is a big cultural center. We can find numerous cinemas, theatres, 
museums, libraries in the city. It is very popular as a center of education too. There 
are many educational institutions in Tashkent. They train various specialists.
Tashkent is the city of courage and friendship. In 1966 the earthquake took 
place in our city. But the people did not falter. Thanks to the help of all neighbor 
republics they built up new Tashkent – the city of modern houses and beautiful 
streets. In future Tashkent will continue to grow. We like our fine city.

*Ingliz tilidagi aksariyat otlarning ko‘plik shakli to‘g‘ri yo‘l bilan yasaladi. Otning birlik 
shakliga -s qo‘shimchasi qo‘shilib, uning ko‘plik shakli hosil qilinadi: boy – boys, book – books, 
pencil - pencils 
*-s, -ch, -sh, -ss, -x, -o harflari bilan tugagan so‘zlarning ko‘plik shakli -es qo‘shimchasini 
qo‘shish yo‘li bilan yasaladi: bus-buses, ostrich-ostriches, dish-dishes, dress-dresses, box-boxes, 
tomato-tomatoes 
*Lekin ba’zi –o bilan tugagan otlarga –s qo’shiladi: hippos, rhinos, radios, videos, pianos, 
photos 
*Agar ot undosh+y kelsa, ko’plik qo’shimchasi qo’shilganda y harfi i ga aylanadi va –es 
qo’shiladi: baby-babies, lady-ladies, strawberry-strawberries

ishlatiladi: man – men kishi(lar), mouse – mice sichqon(lar), ox – oxen ho‘kiz(lar), woman – 
women ayol(lar), louse – lice ablah(lar), goose – geese g‘oz(lar), fireman – firemen o‘t 
o‘chiruvchi(lar), child – children bola(lar), foot – feet oyoq(lar, workman – workmen 
xizmatchi(lar), tooth – teeth tish(lar), person - people 
*Ayrim otlar birlik shaklini saqlagan holda ham ko‘plik ma’nosini bildirishi mumkin:

*Ayrim otlar faqat ko’plikda yoziladi: trousers (shim), scissors (qaychi), shorts (shortik),
