Alisher Navoi
Alisher Navoi was a great poet, progressive philosopher, and wise statesman. He was also scholar, an architect and this explains why his works give great prominence to the subject of creation. However, all that Navoi strived for a kingdom of justice, education far all, handsome and well-enhanced cities-all this remained a dream. The amazingly beautiful cities and places, fantastic oasis, deep canals, lakes in the desert, which have been extolled by Navoi with such great inspiration and which he visualized as he ruins of free and joyous lab our, have become reality in our independent state whose supteme gall is the people. It is indeed highly significant that the new independent state’s city which has sprung up in the Kizilkum desert dose to ancient Bukhara, and which symbolizes Uzbek town-building princeples, carries the name of Alisher Navoi. Walking along the way of Samarkand and Bukhara you can see a desert and endless cotton fields and suddenly there will appear the great industrial and administrative buildings and the new city which has a good architectural view. The city was built 1958. This modern industrialized city is situated 100km far from North-East of Bukhara on the left coast of the Zarafshan river 347 m higher from the sea level and is very comfortable as a geographical place.
The chain of time.
This sun-scorched land preserves millennia of history the cultural remnats of the ancient Saks Khorezmians, Bactrians. The archeological sites at Varaksha, Afrasiyab, Pandjikent and Babkent have revealed to the world ancient civilizations had fallen under the impact of invasion, fratricidal wars and were eventually buried by the sands, Sarmish mountain which is situated near Navoi city and Zarafshan river valley has been inhabited since prehistorically time. Among the archeological finds made there are ancient pictures, flint tools and hunting weapons, day ting back some 25,000 years Petroglyhs and the ruins of ancient cities are also found there. The desert has always spelt horror to people, yet it holds enormous mineral resources: non – ferrous metals prosphorites, etc. the city of Navoi has been designed and built as an advance post in the aim of tapping the enormous riches of the Kizilkum desert. Today, the relay of time has been taken up by the young generation of builders of Uzbekistan.
