Overall,in all 6 continents,the percentages of people living in the urban areas are expected to experience an increase: with the highest proportion in North America and with the lowest figure in Africa.
In detail,from 1950 to 2030,the proportion of the world’s population residing in cities is predicted to double,growing from 29% to 60%.
Regarding 1950 and 2007 years,64% of northern Americans lived in urban areas,while that figure increased by 15%(79%) by 2007, followed by the population of Europe which grew to 72% from 51%.In 1950,42% of Caribbean citizens were urban occupants whose population doubled till 2007 at 76%.By strike contrast,Asia with 15% and37% and Africa with 17% and41% had the least figures in both years,not exceeding 45%.
Looking at 2030,North America still remained dominant with 87% urban residents, followed by84% of Caribbean people living in cities.In Europe, the figure for city population is expected to rise from 65% to 76%,hovewer,Asia and Africa are forecasted to witness a significant growth in the proportions of city population to %51% and 54% respectively.
