- The topicality of this research
The objectives of this research English language proficiency is a crucial skill that students in vocational education must possess to succeed in their careers. However, the traditional approach of teaching English in isolation from other subjects may not be effective in developing the necessary language skills for real-world contexts. The integration of cross-curricular links in English language textbooks has been proposed as a solution to this issue. Therefore, the objective of this research is to examine the reflection of cross-curricular links in English textbooks used in vocational education. This study aims to contribute to the existing literature by providing insights into the effectiveness of cross-curricular links in enhancing English language proficiency in vocational education.
The topicality of this research lies in its focus on the specific context of vocational education and its examination of the reflection of cross-curricular links in English textbooks. The object of this research is the English textbooks used in vocational education, while the subject of this research is the reflection of cross-curricular links in these textbooks. A well-known specialist in the field of linguistics and methods of teaching a foreign language S.G. Ter-Minasova rightly notes that recently the study of the language has become more functional: “Unprecedented demand demanded an unprecedented supply. Unexpectedly for themselves, teachers of foreign languages found themselves in the center of public attention: legions of impatient specialists in various fields of science, culture, business, technology and all other areas of human activity demanded immediate teaching of foreign languages as a tool of production. They are not interested in either the theory or the history of the language - foreign languages, primarily English, are required by them exclusively functionally, for use in various spheres of society as a means of real communication with people from other countries" [27; 178]It is important to note that it is no longer enough for a specialist to have information in their native language. You need to be aware of the development of your field in world practice. That is why UNESCO has designated the next century as the century of polyglots.Hence the increasing importance of teaching English, the formation of communicative competence. The problem of teaching English as a means of communication thus acquires particular relevance in the modern methodology, therefore, at present, teaching a foreign language is conducted from the second grade.
