The problem of content validity

The actuality of this coursework appears is explained by two fundamental issues of language testing: the need tо define аnd reflect оn the аpprоpriаteness оf Secоnd Lаnguаge Аcquisitiоn mоdels аnd cоnstructs thrоugh dаtа аnаlysis frоm lаnguаge tests, аnd the impоrtаnce оf fаcing the ethicаl chаllenge deriving frоm the sоciаl аnd pоliticаl rоle lаnguаge tests plаy nоwаdаys.
The aim of the cоursewоrk is to investigate the process of “Content validity” in language testing system and to define various specific features.
According to this general aim we have put the following concrete tasks before the work:

   To realize the meaning of validation process in language testing sphere;

   To analyze the types of validity;

   To utilize special methods for keeping validity in teaching process;

   To analyze the properties of content validity;

   To analyze the problem of validity of evaluating the content in language testing process.
   

The practical value of the research is that the material and the results of the given coursework can serve as the measurement for teachers in teaching process to create testing content in order to check the knowledge and ability of learners.
The theoretical importance of the qualification paper is determined by the necessity of detailed and comprehensive analysis of validation process, especially, content validity in language testing system.
The structure of the work. The present coursework consists of an introduction, two chapters, conclusion, and the list of used Literature. In the first chapter, it is possible to be aware of important theoretical information about validation process. In the next chapter, various properties of the usage different methods in analyzing content validity are explained. In conclusion, all summarized opinions and ideas have been delivered. Researcher tried to find solution for the problems in the validation process of language testing material’s content.
