ROLES IN COOPERATIVE LEARNING GROUPS Assigning complementary roles to group members promotes and enhances positive interdependence and individual accountability. Each group member has a clearly defined responsibility needed for the group to reach its goal. The selection of roles varies with the intent and content of the activity. Role assignment should rotate frequently within the group.
