According to IEEE STD 519 and AS/NZS 61000 standards, the recommended value of THD should not exceed 5 % for the operation of computers and other associated equipment such as programmable controllers [59][42]. 4.4 Power Factor The power factor affects the reactive power, the real and the apparent power in an electrical system. An increase in power factor results in a decrease in the reactive and apparent power, but an increase in the real power [2].
