The teacher plays tapescripts representing different animal and natural sounds and get students to find what these sounds are.
What is the difference between stylistic devices and expressive means in language?
Can you differentiate sound and signs?

Ask students different questions through working on their schemata. 


-What is onomatopoeia?
- What is its primary function?
- Why do we use this expressive mode in speech?
- Do you know any examples of onomatopoeia?

Options:



  • Onomatopoeia is a combination of speech-sounds which aims at imitating sounds produced in nature (wind, sea, thunder, etc), by things (machines or tools, etc), by people (sighing, laughter, patter of feet, etc) and by animals.

  • Combinations of speech sounds of this type will inevitably be associated with whatever produces the natural sound. Therefore the relation between onomatopoeia and the phenomenon it

  • To imitate sounds produced in nature and etc.

  • Direct and indirect onomatopoeia.
