Lesson 1 Our school is big.

Aims

Educational: - to learn to talk about parts of school

Developing: - to enable pupils to ask and answer the questions

Socio-cultural: - to raise awareness of the pronunciation of “oo”— [u:]

Learning outcomes:

by the end of the lesson, pupils will be able to:

- guess the meaning of the new words from pictures;

- use new words and structures;

- read words with “oo” — [u:] and structure

Vocabulary:

school, classroom, library, gym, canteen, playground

Required equipment:

Pupil’s book, Workbook, the DVD of the book, flashcards with pictures of parts of school and their words

Warm up 5 min

Play the DVD and let the pupils listen to the song “school”and sing along with the DVD. Ask them what the song is about.
