IV. introduced by the conjunction «while».
Speaking about the past we can only use the Past Continuous in the clause of time, which either describes the background of the action in the main clause, or an action parallel with the action in the main clause, e.g.
The phone rang while I was sleeping. (background)
While I was doing my homework, my roommate was watching TV.

B. (the Future)
When we speak about the Future, using clauses of time, we should remember that we can only use the Present Simple, Present Continuous or Present Perfect to emphasize a completed action, a result. We cannot use any future tenses, e.g.
