Objective: The article is devoted to the ethnographisms of meals given in English translations.
Methodology: Most of Uzbek rituals possess a national dish. It became a tradition to prepare a special
meal in various ceremonies, be it wedding ceremony, lament tradition, or religious. Results: Several
translation sources are comparatively analysed and conclusions are drawn. Specific ceremonial meals
their types are investigated and contrasted as well. The ethnologists and translators utilize three ways of
depicting ethnographisms: transliteration, giving definitions, and translations. Conclusion: With the
efforts of foreign ethnologists and translators readers get the information about Uzbek national meals in
the English Language, which causes admiration that not only local but also foreign scientists, ethnologists
and anthropologists are interested very much in our nation’s meals.
