III. REFLECTING STAGE



    1. REFLECTION


In my action research all the fields have been well researched to focus on different strategies which can suit the learners. Vocabulary teaching and learning are fascinating topics, compared with other language areas. So, in the first stage of my action research I choose “Teaching Vocabulary” as the topic of my research. For limiting my topic, I try to investigate this study according to learning levels of students and changed my topic to “How to teach vocabulary for intermediate students”. The aim of this study is to analyze difficulties that faced by teachers during vocabulary lessons and find out interactive methods of teaching vocabulary for intermediate students. Furthermore, this research brings to light the common strategies that learners use in vocabulary learning. The first is

  1. Identifying and limiting the topic

  2. Gathering information

  3. Reviewing the related literature

  4. Developing a research plan

  5. Implementing the plan and collecting data

    1. observation list

    2. questionnaire for students

    3. interview from teachers and students

  6. Analyzing the data

    1. the results of collected data

In this action research I gave full information about the students' and teacher's result. Firstly I wrote about interactive method, found information from different resources. Afterwards, I showed our observation form in my action research. Then, I made question for teachers based on our subject. For students also I had questions. I wanted to know their opinion about my lessons and about their interests. The children were the best!!! They were very sincere, affable, benevolent and attentive. They were interested in English, worked very hard and listened to me carefully. Sometimes boys made noise but I managed to maintain the discipline in class. To make my lessons more interesting each time I made different cards, found more exercises, riddles, counting out rhymes to organize physical activity. The school is well-equipped that was why there were no difficulties in using technical aids and I used them. The practice was very exciting because it was my first experience in teaching, but I really enjoyed it very much!!! In the beginning I was confused and worried a lot but then I got used to the process and it gave me much joy and pleasure. I have several favorite lessons. In the end of this stage I wrote about the results. In the other stage I made 3 lesson plans of my lessons and activities which were during the lessons. At the end of my plans I made post test for knowing their knowledge after my lessons.
The last stage is reflective essay. In this essay I should write about my portfolio. I gave all information about my action research. Telling the truth it was difficult to do this task but it was interesting and helpful.
