The world`s longest water diversion tunnel was completed in northeast China`s Liaoning province. The previous record for the longest tunnel was held by Japan`s Seikan tunnel, which is 53.86 km long. The newly built tunnel is 85.3 kilometres long and has a diameter of eight meters. It starts in Hengen County in east Liaoning and ends in Xibin County in the western part of the province. The tunnel will bring water from the Dahoufang Reservoir to more than 10 million people in the seven industrial cities. The entire project, with road and river embankment construction included, cost a total of 1.15 billion euros.
