There are three things to aim at in public speaking: first, to get into your subject, then to get your subject into yourself, and lastly, to get your subject into the heart of your audience.”

Alexander Gregg
We as human beings can deliver our thoughts through speaking to one another and this gift was given only to humans. Despite being the most intelligent creature some of us have a complex in the field of speaking.

Have you ever wondered why TED talks’ performances are so addictive? The fact that they have a massive audience from everywhere. The reason is speakers put effort into their presentation since they want to teach others knowledge. To those who do not what is TED talks all about. They distinguish themselves from other presentation formats as a powerful tool for reaching a target audience with precise, understandable information. These events and speeches are lovingly put together by volunteers who are not motivated by financial gain.

According to most people’s perspective, it is said from childhood a great orator could be developed. It depends on how much that person wants to be heard. There is no doubt that from childhood people can sense who is gifted with great speaking skills, the kids are not afraid to talk in front of an audience. However, some of us were not as “lucky” as them, because of some trauma people could develop social anxiety which leads to isolation from society.

An excellent general is usually an orator because, unless he knows how to speak to the whole army, he will have difficulty in doing anything good.”

- XVIII

These wise words were originally attributed to the president of the United States and were given by the famous manipulator, master of words Machiavelli.

To persuade or dissuade a few about a thing is very easy because if words are not enough, you can use authority and force; but the difficulty is to remove from a multitude a belief that is unfavorable and contrary either to the common good or to your belief when you can use only words proper to be heard by all, since you are trying to persuade them all.”
Niccolo Machiavelli
Comprehension. Going deep down into this wisdom is especially necessary to become the best public speaker.

The ultimate power that person could have is indeed our speech. In ancient times, the legend of the Great Wars could encourage soldiers to fight for their lives, family, and for a bright future.

We love when someone speaks accurately, without jargon, is well-mannered, and can feel their auras. Also love being close to them, for instance, feeling them could make you motivated and ambitious. This is the very reason why we engage them, why we listen to them, and we could sense the way they inspire us. Including the fact that, if an insecure person is speaking no one will tend any attention to them, and people forget what they are told about.
For this point, Machiavelli said: “Where the willingness is great, the difficulties cannot be great”. You can tell whether the person has a genuine love for something because it is shown in their actions.

Essentially, there is no such secret in making good presentations but rehearsing everything before demonstrating your work and addressing the audience involving them, and of course, understanding your theme to make it clear to others is the basis of becoming better. Let’s just make it clear:

  • Never go to the stage when you are not ready. It is important to feel like being ready to explain and getting some questions;

  • It is necessary to make rehearsal;

  • Pay attention to your product and theme;

  • Make your speech briefly;

  • Do not ever use filler words it will make you look very insecure;

  • Being nervous is okay but do not make it too obvious;

  • Use questions that will switch the curiosity of the audience;

  • At last but not least humor, it will make you look charismatic.
