FOREWORD

The study manual "English for musical theatre actors" is intended for students who speak English at an intermediate level. The texts are based on the original American and English educational and scientific literature.

The main purpose of the manual is to expand the active vocabulary by specialty, develop reading skills and professional communication in English on topical problems of human relationships with acting. This manual’s chapters divide into easy-to-reference units, each containing group and solo exercises, making it the definitive textbook for students and practitioners alike.
In structure, the manual consists of three sections (Units), each of which is complete. There are five topics in each unit, in which information related to the field of acting is covered in English. Topic starts with text that helps predict the content text and thereby tune and prepare the student for the perception of the material to be studied. In turn, the topics are from authentic texts with assignments for different types of reading.
The presence in the topic of texts, reading each of which has its own specific goal, allows the student to form different reading strategies. These skills are important and necessary in the professional activity of the future specialist. All sections also include dialogue texts, texts for additional reading, equipped with a dictionary-minimum of thematic active vocabulary. The system of all the proposed tasks and exercises is ultimately aimed at developing students' skills and skills of abstracting texts in the specialty, conducting discussions on professional topics, as well as the development of translation skills.
