A book I love to read

My favorite book is Alisher Navoi's Hamsa, Layli and Majnun.

“Layli and Majnun”

It is difficult to find another love story that is as common in the literature of the peoples of the Middle East as Layli and Majnun. For thirteen centuries, poetry and epics have been written on this subject in the world of literature. The origin of this story goes back to the life of the ancient Arabs.

“Layli and Majnun”

  • According to some Arab sources, Majnun was a historical figure who belonged to the Bani Amir tribe in northern Arabia. His name is mentioned in the sources as Qays ibn Mulawwah, Mahdi ibn Mu'adh, al-Aqra, and sometimes al-Bukhari ibn al-Ja'd. Majnun fell in love with a girl from his tribe named Layla and wrote wonderful poems dedicated to her.

“Layli and Majnun”

Ibn Qutaybah's Kitabu-sh-she'r wa-sh-shuaro states that his poems were widely distributed among his tribesmen and other tribesmen. But at the same time, some historians say that Majnun is not a historical figure, his name is figurative, the existing poems are the poems of a young man who fell in love with his cousin, who used the nickname Majnun in his poems.

“Layli and Majnun”

In any case, from the second half of the seventh century onwards, sad poems on the subject of love appeared under the pseudonym Majnun in Arabic poetry.

In fiction, this story was first written in the form of an epic by Nizami Ganjavi. Later, poets such as Amir Khusrav Dehlavi, Ashraf Maroghi, Abdurahman Jami, Amir Sheikh Suhaili in Persian, Gulshahri, Ashiq Pasha, Shahidi, Fuzuli wrote in Turkish.

“Layli and Majnun”

  • Alisher Navoi's epic "Layli and Majnun" consists of 38 chapters and 3623 bytes. The preamble includes 9 chapters. The story begins with the traditional praise of God. In it, the poet describes the creation of the universe, the night, the day, the moon, the sun, the stars, the seasons and the peculiar reflections of nature in them, the creation of man in nature, the existence and non-existence of God - all this is the incomparable power of God emphasizing that it is an expression of his greatness and praising him.
