Some companies have uniforms for their staff which must be worn at all times. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this.
It is popularly believed that employees are provided with uniforms, which always have to be dressed by the company’s workers during the working day. This essay highlights the merits and demerits of it.

The major merit is that if the homogeneous dressing is effectively adopted by organizations on premises, it will more likely assist the chief executive and staff in boosting the brand image and discipline of the company. In other words, dressing up the same as attire could afford all the staff the work atmosphere of equality, and companies might set a visible image of employees, which is a vital selling point for company. Moreover, maintaining a dress code can help the workforce with economizing their money and time as they do not have to waste their time choosing a different dress for their workplace. Statistics show that organizations, for example, make it compulsory for the staff to have a uniform, it can more productively help many employers in advancing the brand image. 


One possible drawback is that uniforms that must be worn obligatory by the workforce, can be affected in some negative way in terms of redundant and chronic pain. To be more precise, the dress code may become redundant and obsolete when employees are dismissed, and clothes might be obsolete due to the fact that the world progresses increasingly. Moreover, if a dress code is worn by staff during the duty hours, it negatively affects the human body. Scientific research, for instance, says wearing heels, which have to be worn by air hostesses on aircraft for prolonged periods, puts excessive strain on the feet, sometimes causing chronic pain or permanent deformation.


In conclusion, despite the fact that wearing a uniform in the workplace can help the brand image and discipline of the company to spread wider, it is bound to become rapidly outdated and result in discomfort for employees.
