Our house

Our house

I live in a house. I like my house very much. It’s neither big nor little. When you enter the house you see a big living room. There is a sofa and a round table in the middle of the living room. There is a big TV-set on the wall.

My living room is light as there are 4 big windows. There is a kitchen to the right and stairs to the upper floor. The kitchen is big, and the whole family can get together for dinner there. My parents also like to invite their friends for dinner.

My room is upstairs. It’s big, with high ceilings. There is not much furniture there, only my bed, my wardrobe and a couple of shelves. I keep my pets in the room. I have many of them: mice, rats, hamsters, fish, parrots. I even have a ferret. So there are cages all over the room.

My parents’ room, my elder sister’s room, my younger brother’s room and my granny’s room are also upstairs.
There is a yard around the house. My granny likes to grow flowers there. My dad made a small sports ground with a horizontal bar and a punch bag. There is a swing opposite the sports ground.
There is a garage for our car and my dad’s tools. We also keep our bikes there.

My family lives in a large family house with a big garden. The house itself has two floors, a cellar, an attic and a garage. In the cellar there is a furnace room for heating the house and rooms for storing stewed fruit and vegetables for winter.

In the attic there is a big mess. In the garden we grow flowers and fresh vegetables and tehre are many fruit trees. Right behind the house there is a kennel.

On the ground floor there is a hall and a large kitchen, stairs to the first floor and a living room. In the kitchen, which is on the left, you can see some blue cupboards, a cooker, a sink , a large round brown table with blue chairs and a yellow lamp above it.

Opposite the kitchen there is a large living room with a sofa, two armchairs, a little table on left hand side. Next to them opposite the windows there is a lrge bookcase with hundreds of books. Under the window there is a piano and next to it there is ashelf with a TV set, a stereo and our cassette and record collections.
The room is decorated with four pictures, curtains on the windows, one large chandellier and many little lamps, vases with flowers and flowerpots with various plants, a few pottery pieces and a brown carpet on the floor.

Upstairs on the right there is a parents´bedroom with one large bed and many wardrobes, two little tables with lamps, an armchair and a small bookcase. Opposite there are two children bedrooms. Next to the stairs there is a toilet and a bathroom with a large bathtub and a washbasin.

On the walls there you can see lovely light-blue tiles with little flowers.
I have my own room. I used to share it with my brother but now when he left home I have it for myself.
I live in a new nine-storeyed block of flats in Pushkin Street. In front of the house there is a children’s playground and a small garden. We like to spend our time there.

Our flat is on the fourth floor. It is very comfortable. We have all modern conveniences such as central heating, electricity, gas, cold and hot running water and a telephone. There are three rooms in our flat: a living- room and two bedrooms.

Our living-room is the largest in the flat. It is nicely furnished. Opposite the wall you can see a nice cupboard. There is a colour TV-set in the corner. In another corner there is a sofa and two armchairs. The piano is on the right.
There are two pictures above the piano. There is a bookcase next to it. We are fond of books and have plenty of them at home. On the floor we have a nice thick carpet. The curtains on the window match the wallpaper. All this makes the room cosy.
Our bedrooms are also very nice and cosy. The parents’ bedroom is larger than the children’s. There is a big bed, a bedside table, some chairs and a wardrobe in it. There is a lovely carpet on the floor.

The children’s bedroom is just across the corridor on the right. Here you can see two sofa-beds where my sister and I sleep at night and have a rest in the day-time. There is also a writing-table, two chairs and some bookshelves here. We use our bedroom as a study where we do our homework. In the corner of the room there is a small table with a computer on it.

Our kitchen is rather large. There is a gas-stove, a refrigerator and a cupboard in which we keep cups, plates and all our dishes. The kitchen serves us as a diningroom. But when we receive guests or have our family celebrations we have the meals in the living-room. We are happy to have such a nice flat and try to keep it clean.
Tanya is a friend of mine. We are classmates. Tanya is eleven years old now.

Yesterday I went to Tanya's birthday party. I gave her a book and a box of sweets as a present. And I sang the song "Happy Birthday to You".

There were five children at the party. We ate pizza, salad, chocolate cake and sweets, listened to music, and played games.

Then we went for a walk in the park. I liked Tanya's birthday party.

A birthday party (2)

My birthday is on the 21st of January. I remember my birthday and birthday party very well.

When I woke up in the morning, my mother and father came into my room and said, "Happy birthday, dear son!"

They kissed me and gave me presents. Then I had breakfast and went to school. My school friends congratulated me on my birthday and gave me presents.

I gave them sweets and cookies that I brought from home, and I invited my friends to my birthday party.

After school I went home, had dinner, rested a little, and helped my parents to prepare for my birthday party.

My father bought a large chocolate cake. My mother made pizza and potato salad, and I helped her to lay the table.

My guests came at six o'clock. They gave me presents and sang the song "Happy Birthday to You".

We ate pizza and salad, played games and watched animated cartoons. Then we drank tea and ate chocolate cake.

I like my birthday and my birthday parties. My birthday is a special day for me.
