Introduction
In the last fifteen years strategies for language learning have become the focus of a great deal of interest. This interest is linked to three important ideas. Firstly, a new view of student and teacher roles in language learning emphasises what students can do to help themselves learn. Secondly, we now know that students learn in different ways so that what works for one student may not work for the next. Thirdly, if we agree that learning must continue outside the classroom, students need to know how to manage their independent learning. All these ideas point to the importance of learner strategies. Learner strategies play a crucial role in language learning. The strategies students adopt affect the type and amount of language practice they do, the way they approach in-class tasks and the extent to which they use resources. Often students use particular strategies without knowing what effect they will have, or without knowing what alternatives exist. By focusing attention on strategies in your classes, you can become a more effective teacher and your students can be more successful in their language learning.
In Uzbekistan a number of fields of knowledge are decided annually, and their advancement is given top emphasis. This year, these areas have expanded to include physics and foreign languages. Foreign language study is becoming increasingly important due to Uzbekistan`s open policy, active entry into the global market and expansion of international collaboration in many fields. In Uzbekistan there are 25 higher education institutes that offer foreign language instruction. Only 7 such institutes existed in 2016. The number of applicants who have obtained an international language certificate has multiplied tenfold in the last three years. In comparison to previous years, the El-Yurt umidi Foundation awarded grates to 350 students this year, a fivefold increase. These grants allowed them to attend prestigious foreign universities. Large-scale work in this area cannot, however, be successfully solved in some locations due to the status of foreign language education system, there are therefore around 2000 openings for foreign language instructors.
Schools' language instruction is rated a shaving a very low quality. National and international language credentials are only held by 4% of school teachers. Khanabad and Kuvasay cities, as well as the districts of Zafarabad, Mirishkor, Turtkul, Sherabad, and Uzun, do not have any certified teachers. 49 percent of teachers who took the certification exam failed it.
At the meeting, these issues as well as others in field were thoroughly examined Priority tasks were determined. The time is right to establish a new educational system in Uzbekistan. These and other problems in the sphere were comprehensively analyzed at the meeting. Priority tasks were identified. "The time has come to create in Uzbekistan a new system of teaching foreign languages, which will become a solid foundation for the future. Since we set ourselves the goal of building a competitive state, from now on, graduates of schools, lyceums, colleges and universities must be fluent in at least two foreign languages. This strict requirement should become the main criterion for the work of the head of each education institution", Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
