What is critical analysis? Critical analysis is the detailed examination and evaluation of another person's ideas or work. It is subjective writing as it expresses your interpretation and analysis of the work by breaking down and studying its parts. You may write a critical analysis to critique a piece of literature, a film or TV programCritical analysis is associated with a "deep approach" to your learning, which means that you relate new knowledge to what you already know. It also requires the examination of theoretical concepts and ideas; comparing and contrasting issues and perspectives to challenge your own understandings and to speculate and seek out implications. Furthermore, you must be able to distinguish between what is evidence and what is an argument. This involves questioning assumptions, recognising generalisations, and identifying bias in what you see, read and hear. Thinking critically helps you to uncover links across large and diverse bodies of knowledge enabling you to synthesise your own informed ideas 2.The methodology of case study ? Educators around the world have realized that the importance of specialized education, allowing the learners to learn exactly what they need, and attend courses that would help them achieve their specific goals. English for specific purposes allows learners to improve their communication skills in those areas that are the most important to them. Abstract The present study is an attempt to understand English for Specific Purposes (ESP): an extremely significant branch of ELT by encompassing various linguists’ efforts to define it, tracing its historical growth, discussing its characteristics, and trying to find out its scope and purpose to address the specific needs of EFL/ESL learners. Though lots of contradicting views have been reported in defining ESP but there seems an agreement finally that it is confined to the teaching of English to the learners who have specific goals and purposes: these goals might be professional, academic or scientific. 4.What are the three branches of ESP? ESP is broken down into three branches: a) English for Science and Technology (EST), b) English for Business and Economics (EBE), and c) English for Social Studies (ESS). Each of these subject areas is further divided into two branches: English for Academic Purposes (EAP) and English for Occupational Purposes (EOP). An example of EOP for the EST branch is 'English for Technicians' whereas an example of EAP for the EST branch is 'English for Medical Studies'. 5.Count the main groups of learners. The groupings chosen by the teacher usually depends on the kind of activity, the purpose of the activity and the students. Download 152.5 Kb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
