English is very important and necessary in three terms such as economic, social, and cultural terms. English has a new position as a worldwide lingua franca in the age after Modern English, which is known as "Global English," and this has the effect of encircling English with new cultural, linguistic, political, and economic challenges. The world now uses English extensively. Although more nations now speak English, no one nation dominates the language. As a result, studying English is becoming more and more vital to success in life. People now learn it outside of traditional academic settings, such as non-profit organizations. Students begin learning English earlier in formal schooling. Although it is now taught in primary schools and even preschools, it used to be taught in secondary schools. So, it emphasizes the necessity of learning English.
The countries that speak English are no longer the only ones that speak it. The five continents now include nations where English is spoken. Economics is one of the causes. Since learning English is one means to keep up with the trend of economic communication, people must do so. Processing information, evaluating it, experimenting with it, negotiating it, and working together in the economy all need knowledge of English. The globalization era's increased awareness of English's significance has motivated individuals to study it intentionally, but it also presents challenges for learning it, particularly in non-English-speaking nations.
When it comes to economic one people use it as a business language in economic spheres of nearly all countries. Economically this language is used in trade, education, business contracts.
Socially English is widely used around the world for communication, sharing opinions with each other. By this term people have no difficulty while making communication with one another.
Culturally, English is used around the world for being aware of customs, traditions, habits of other people. But people must be aware of culture shock. Culture shock means that staying between two cultures by misunderstanding. Religious misunderstanding can be one example of culture shock.
To sum up, English whether American or British is very important in these spheres above. It means that in these days demand is increasing for learning this language. In education English language is dominant language nowadays.

1.3) Explain why English is often a highly desirable language to learn for non-native speakers.

For these criteria, you should write an essay. Word count: 150 minimum.
Non- native speakers have strong desire to learn English nowadays. There are some reasons for this cause. The languages of science, aviation, computing, diplomacy, and tourism are all in English. Understanding English improves your chances of landing a decent position in a global corporation in your native country or in search of employment abroad. Learning English is crucial for socializing, enjoyment, and employment because it is the language of the internet, media, and worldwide communication.
Firstly, people want to communicate with other societies in order to work or study. That’s why English is very important and highly desirable.
Second reason is business and trade issues around the world. In business especially English is used among people.
Third reason is tourism. In tourism sphere English language is the most dominant one. When people want to go abroad for entertainments and seeing sightseeing places they need English language. Without knowledge of English language people may not travel or they need translator.
Finally, in the field of education and science this language is very necessary. While doing some research people need English for searching information, reading articles, newspaper and magazines.
These reasons are the most important ones. Furthermore, we can add politic reasons, in the field of art, and others for desire of this language.

1.4) Explain the origin of English as an Indo-European language, the status of English as a Germanic language, and the large influence of Romance languages on it.

For these criteria, you should write an essay. Word count: 150 minimum.
English is one of the members of Indo-European language. This language has long history in its orthographies, phonetics, grammar, syntax, and other grammatical fields. English history can be divided into Old English, Middle English, Modern English. In Old English period the used language was like German language and Normadic tribes used Old English language. Middle English is the period of Shakespeare, Miguel de Servantes and other writers. They used Middle English language in their works. Modern English is the period of new language, new borrowed words into language. For example, most words were taken from Spanish, French, Italian and other languages. Its grammar and lexical features also changed. Modern English is the basis of English language that people are using nowadays.
The status of English as a Germanic language is also very high all around the world. We've all been told that English is a Germanic language since elementary school. However, because English and German are so different, this frequently confuses the majority of people. For instance, if you gave a native English speaker who had never studied a foreign language a page of French and a page of German, odds are they would be able to recognize more terms on the French page than the German one. This makes a lot of people question if English is truly a Romance language. The major reason English sounds more like Romance languages than like other Germanic languages is because Romance languages have had a significant impact on English lexicon over time. In 2016, Greek makes up 6% of the English lexicon, which is followed by 29% French, 29% Latin, 29% French, and 10% from other languages and proper names. A total of 58% of the vocabulary used in modern English comes from French and Latin (both Romance languages). English language also has large influence on Romance language such as German, French, Italian and others.
2) Understand modern methodologies and best classroom practice
2.1) Evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of teaching methodologies/philosophies, including:

  • Behaviourism

  • Audiolingualism

  • The ’Natural Way’

  • Humanistic Approaches

For these criteria, you should write an essay. Word count: 250 minimum.
Behaviourism is teaching philosophy that helps learners and teachers to adapt classroom environment. For example, Teacher always gives and explains the same tests and tasks for students every time. If teacher changes those same tests and tasks students may fail or can’t get A grades, even the best ones. This is called behavourism. It looks like young child’s repetition something after his or her mother. There are both strengths like improving memorial skills and weaknesses decreasing motivation of students of behavourism philosophy. The behavioral learning theory is essential for understanding how to inspire and support pupils in the classroom. A reaction to the appropriate stimulus causes information to be transmitted from teachers to students. When it comes to behavioral learning, students are passive recipients of the information because it is part of the stimulus-response process. Behaviorism is used by teachers to instruct children on how to respond to various stimuli. To routinely remind pupils of the behavior a teacher expects, this must be done repeatedly.
Audiolingualism mainly pays attention oral speech. In teaching period students especially use their vocabulary and grammar to show their oral speeches. Written speech is in the second line in audiolingualism. In this method mistakes are bad and the meanings of words are learned in cultural context. Reading dialogues loudly, repititing sentences after teacher are samples of activities. Advantage of this method is that it is dedicated to listening and speaking skills. Bad side of this method is reading and writing nearly used and students may forget grammar, reading and writing. The audio-lingual technique advocated teaching pupils a language directly, without utilizing their native tongue to explain new terms or grammar in the target language, similar to the direct method. The audio-lingual approach, in contrast to the direct approach, did not prioritize vocabulary instruction.
Stephen Krashen is the creator of Natural approach. It is especially dedicated to improve communicative abilities of learners. Problem-solving activities are sample for this approach.
Humanistic approach in teaching are devoted to social and communicative activities of students. Language learning truly is not important. The important one is communicating with class and sharing opinions with one another among students. But it is not realistic and doesn’t emphasize written work.
2.2) Evaluate how teachers can match methodology to learner needs.

For these criteria, you should write an essay. Word count: 150 minimum.

Teaching is one of the most difficult professions in the world. When it comes to teaching it demands methodology, of course. While using methodology teachers must be aware of who are their learners, their learning style, and their needs. There are a lot of reasons for learning language. Some people learn English for travelling, some people learn English for improving their career, some people learn English for entering university and there are other a lot of reasons for it. That’s why teachers must know what are their learners’ needs and what kind of methodology they use during teaching.
There are a lot of methods of teaching English. They are Grammar translation method, direct method, audio-lingual method, silent way, suggestopedia and so on. The most used method nowadays is CLL. It is community language learning. Nowadays teachers are paying attention to communication while training courses.
Using technology also helps learners to match teaching their needs. Parents and kids can handle educational requirements thanks to the power of online technology. Research and decision-making on degree programs, school profiles, scholarships, and financial assistance are done online by parents and students. However, it has not yet been possible to use the Internet and data management to match a student's preferred learning style with a teacher's teaching method. The well-known website ratemyprofessor.com is one example of such an endeavour. The site receives feedback from millions of students on their experiences with teachers and classes, but the data is inaccurate. An incorrect description of the professors and courses may be given by disgruntled students.
