INTRODUCTION (abstract of PhD dissertation) 
The aim of the study consists of studying and analyzing the economic and 
social processes in the Lower Zarafshan oasis in 1925-1941. 
The tasks of the research work:
to analyze the purpose and essence of the “Attack” campaign carried out in 
the second half of the 1920s, as well as flaws and mistakes in its execution. 
to identify land and water reform, as well as agricultural collectivization 
policy, in the Lower Zarafshan oasis in the late 1920s and early 1930s; 
to reveal the socal-economic consequences of errors and shortcomings caused 
by conflicting processes in oasis agriculture and management's administrative 
command policy; 
to exam the situation in the Lower Zarafshan oasis as a result of the 1930s 
repressive policy; 
to study specific aspects of economic and social life in the second half of the 
1920s and 1930s; 
to analyze the solutions and problems of social processes in the Lower 
Zarafshan oasis, especially changes in the educational system and health care. 
Methods of research: In the dissertation work, historical-chronological, 
comparative approach, analysis and synthesis, historical and logical scientific 
research methods were used. 
Scientific novelty of the research is as follows:
The economic and social life of thousands of compatriots with ordinary 
professions who were brutally repressed by the authoritarian regime is revealed in 
the example of the special Lower Zarafshan oasis; 
Economic and social changes carried out in the Lower Zarafshan oasis in 
1925-1941 and their effects on the social strata of the people and their way of life 
were studied based on a new approach from today's point of view, relying on 
evidence; 
The “Attack” campaign aimed at the liberation of women in the Lower 
Zarafshan oasis was carried out in two stages in 1925-1927 and 1927-1932. Its 
occurrence is scientifically proven; 
Changes in the educational system and health care in the Lower Zarafshan 
oasis in 1925-1941, the eradication of illiteracy, the establishment of national 
schools, the efforts made to implement modern education, the training of teachers 
for schools, their material and technical and educational equipment, the issues of 
providing textbooks, as well as the opening of medical centers, hospitals and 
dispensaries in cities and villages, the provision of pharmacies, the training of 
medical personnel necessary for the field, are highlighted in comparison with other 
regions based on archive and periodical press materials; 
During the years of the repressive policy of the Soviet authorities, the 
situation in the Lower Zarafshan oasis was analyzed based on the criteria of 
objectivity and truthfulness, based on new information, and a scientific assessment 
was given. It is shown that the consequences of exile, unjust imprisonment,

sentencing innocent people to be shot brought many tragedies and hardships to the 
inhabitants of the Lower Zarafshan oasis.
