the lexis of the Uzbek literary language 
at the beginning of the 20th century, its methodological, frazeological and 
morphological features, the essence and purpose of Turkism, Jadidism and Purism 
were partly illuminated, analyzed and evaluated. It must be admitted that these 
works to some extent contributed to the development of the linguistics of the time. 
However, since these studies were based on the sovereignty of the Soviet ideology, 
there are some biased and subjective interpretations in this regard. 
Connection of the theme of dissertation with the scientific-research works 
of the higher educational institution, where the dissertation was conducted. 
The dissertational research is an integral part of the research plan of Bukhara State 
University on the themes of «Fundamental Study of the Uzbek Language History» 
(2004-2009) and «Topical Problems of Lexicology of the Uzbek Language» 
(2009-2014) and was carried out on the basis of a fundamental research project of 
Bukhara State University titled OT-F8-090 «Jadid Literature as a Synthesis of 
World-Contemporary Literature» (2007-2011). 
The aim of the research is to define the role of the representatives of Jadid 
literature in the development of Uzbek literary language and to reveal 
linguostatistical, thematical, historical, etymological, lexical, semantical and 
linguopoetic peculiarities of the words used in their poetic works.
The tasks of the research are the following: 
defining the attitude of the representatives of Jadid literature to the Uzbek 
literary language and its norms as well as illuminating the historical importance of 
their activities; 
revealing lexical and semantical changes in relation to socio-political, 
economic, cultural and educational factors and socio-aesthetic requirements 
existing at that time; 
determining the quantitative ratios of native and borrowed words by 
comparing their vocabulary layer and obtained results; 
determining the general state of the Uzbek literary language vocabulary at the 
beginning of the 20th century on the basis of the historical and etymological study 
of the lexis of works;

classifying lexical units by various thematic groups, and thus showing the role 
of the representatives of Jadid literature in the development of the Uzbek language 
vocabulary; 
classifying and analyzing the words according to the form and meaning, and 
based on taken results determining the shifts related to the meaning of words of the 
literary language of the time; 
defining linguopoetic features, functions and possibilities of metaphor, 
metonymy and synecdoche, and revealing their artistic-aesthetic value; 
identifying the metaphors characteristic to the Uzbek literature for the period 
of the national renaissance, and determining the role of the representatives of Jadid 
literature in the development of the metaphorical system.
