[F-Cn] Joanne Masters said she’d call today, but she hasn’t. It’s five 
o’clock already. Do you think I should call her?
[M-Am] Yes, go ahead. Tell her I can’t start on the first floor
rooms until she decides what color she wants for the ceilings 
and walls.
[F-Cn] OK. Oh, you know we haven’t received payment for the work 
you did for her last month?
[M-Am] Really? It took ages to paint those doors and windows.
[F-Cn] Hmm... 
[M-Am] It’s always like that with her. Tell her we need that money first
before we do the offices. She needs to learn we can’t wait
forever.
Questions 56 through 58 refer to the following conversation.
[M-Au] The price is very reasonable, I think. The fish is OK. How’s 
your pizza?
[M-Br] It’s tasty. I haven’t had a vegetable one before. It was a good 
idea to meet up here.
[M-Au] We haven’t seen each other for ages, have we?
[M-Br] That’s right. It must be over three months. So, how have
you been? How are things at work?

[F1-Cn] What should we do about this place? The roof leaks in the 
bathroom when it rains and the windows won’t close. 
[F2-Br] Yes, it’s freezing in here! Jim, do you have any ideas?
[M-Au] Well, we could call someone to fix it, but it’ll be expensive. I
don’t know if we can afford it.
[F1-Cn] How can you say that we can’t afford it when you don’t know 
how much it will cost? 
[F2-Br] Lisa’s right. At least let us get someone in to take a look. I
don’t mind phoning around for quotes.
[F1-Cn] Neither do I. 
[M-Au] Hmm... OK. I suppose we have to do something. I hope it 
won’t cost too much.
Questions 62 through 64 refer to the following conversation and 
notice.
[M-Cn] Hmm... Which of the cooking demonstrations should we go 
to?
[F-Am] Let’s go to the one at eleven thirty. That sounds interesting. 
[M-Cn] Good idea. How about we have a bite to eat afterwards?
[F-Am] Why not? As long as we catch the train home before two 
o’clock. I have to start work at five, remember. 
[M-Cn] No problem. We can take a taxi back to the station. Want to 
look around the exhibition now?
