6. Control of students’ achievements

6.1 The following control forms are provided for monitoring of students’ educational achievements: formative, midterm and final.

6.2 Formative monitoring of student performance is the systematic verification of student knowledge in accordance with the curriculum, carried out by the teacher in classroom and out-of-audience classes during the academic period.
6.3 Midterm control is the monitoring of students’ educational achievements after completion of a section (module) of one discipline. Midterm control is carried out at the 8th and 15th week of the semester according to the schedule of the discipline and is rated on a 100-point scale each. The results of the formative monitoring are taken into account when evaluating midterm results. The results of the midterm control are entered in the platform Univer during the midterm week. The increase of the midterm control results by changing them is not allowed.
6.4 The form of formative and midterm controls is established by the teacher depending on the peculiarities of the discipline. formative and midterm control can be carried out in the form of tests, control works, colloquiums, solving situation problems, essays and reports, assessing the participation of students in business games, round tables, etc. Information on the forms of conducting formative and midterm controls is included in the syllabus by discipline and brought to the attention of students at the first lesson. Students who achieved rating more than 50 points according to the results of the formative and midterm controls are allowed to pass the final control (exam) in the discipline.
6.5 In case the student due to some reasons, which are proved by the documents, did not get enough score points at the midterm controls, he/she receives the appropriate permission to pass the midterm control within the time limits specified in the Register's office. This permission is approved by the vice-rector supervising the educational process. Documents confirming the reason for absence from classes or midterm control shall be submitted no later than 3 days later than the date of this document closing.
6.6 Students who have not passed the course works (projects) are not allowed to pass the exam for the corresponding discipline.
6.7 Final control is the monitoring of students’ educational achievements in order to assess the quality of their discipline’s mastery. It is carried out during the interim assessment in the form of an exam; if the discipline is studied for several academic periods, then the final control can be carried out according to the part of the discipline studied in this academic period.
6.8 The form and procedure for conducting the exam for each academic discipline is established by the University Educational and Methodological Board at the beginning of the academic period.
6.9 The examination schedule shall be approved two weeks before the beginning of the examination session.
6.10 According to the results of the examination session, the registrar's office compiles an academic rating of students.
6.11 The appeal commission is created for the period of the examination session (interim certification), by order of the rector. It consists of teachers whose qualification corresponds to the profile of the specific areas and disciplines for which exams are provided. The decision of the appeals commission is drawn up by a minute, on the basis of which an examination record is drawn up. If, based on the results of the appeal, the score obtained is lower than the one that the student received in the exam, the last score is recorded in the transcript and counted when calculating the GPA. The results of the appeal are submitted by the registrar's office after approval the appeals commission’s decision is approved by the order.
6.12 The student, who does not agree with the result of the final control, submits an appeal no later than 12 hours after the exam. The appeal is to be considered only if the student specifies that the question is incorrect, indicating the option/number of the ticket or its inconsistency with the discipline content in his/her application for appeal.
