7. Assessment of the students’ educational achievements7.1 Knowledge, abilities, skills and competences of students are defined and estimated according to the 100-point scale for all types of control corresponding to the international alphabetic system practice with a digital equivalent on a 4-point scale. A point-rating letter system is used to evaluate the educational achievements of students with the transfer into the traditional rating scale. 7.2 The application of new or changed criteria and methods for assessing the students’ knowledge is possible only on the basis of new regulatory documents of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, decisions of the Board of studies and orders of the university rector. 7.3 Accepted criteria and methods of students' knowledge assessment cannot be changed during the academic year. Their revision and implementation is possible only with the beginning of the new academic year. 7.4 The applied evaluation criteria and methods shall be reflected in the syllabus of a discipline and in the student's guide. 7.5 Records based on the evaluation results are maintained by means of electronic examination records formed in AIS "Univer." 7.6 After completion of each discipline exam, the student is given a final assessment, which serves as an assessment of his educational achievements in the discipline and is reflected in the academic transcript of the student. 7.7 The mark obtained at the exam and the average score according to the midterm controls results during the academic period are taken into account while summarizing the results of the interim assessment for the academic discipline. Assessment of the formative control of academic performance (admission rating) is 60% of the final assessment of knowledge by discipline, the exam score is 40% of the final assessment of discipline knowledge. Total score (TS) = 0.6 * (R1 + R2 )/2 + 0.4 * E. The exam is evaluated according to a 100-point system. 7.8 In order to retake the exam in case of "unsatisfactory" assessment in order to increase the grade point average (GPA), the student again attends all types of educational activities provided for by the content of this discipline, receives admission and passes final control in the next academic period (if this discipline is declared in this semester) or in the summer semester. In this case, the student again undergoes the registration procedure for the discipline. Retake is performed only on a paid basis. After three weeks from the beginning of the classes, the student on Retake does not have the right to abandon the discipline, otherwise the student is awarded the "F" rating for the discipline. Payment made for the discipline is not refunded to the student. If the student received an unsatisfactory rating in the elective discipline, then he has the right to replace it with another from the same block, having agreed on this replacement with the examiner and the registrar's office. 7.9 If the student did not show up for the exam for a good documented reason (due to illness with the provision of a medical certificate confirmed by the head of the university medical center, etc.), then in order to obtain admission to the exam, the student submits an application with dean's visas for consideration by the vice-rector supervising the educational process, indicating the reasons for skipping the exam and attaching the originals of supporting documents (certificates) no later than 2 working days from the day of the exam. If the reason for passing the exam is found to be valid, an individual examination schedule is established for the student. With a positive result of passing the exam, the final score is again counted, which is recorded in the exam record and transcript. 7.10 Based on the results of examination sessions (results of winter, spring and summer sessions), the registrar's office calculates the grade point average (GPA) for the course as a weighted average mark of the student's educational achievement level. The value of the minimum transfer point for transfer from course to course is approved by the Board of Studies for each academic year and is established by order of the rector of the university in the context of courses. Students who have scored the minimum value of the transfer score are transferred to the next course by order of the rector basing on the application of the dean. The student, who has not scored the minimum value of the transfre score, remains for the re-course. 7.11 A student who has completed the course program but has not scored the minimum value of the transfer score, , is given the opportunity to re-study individual disciplines on a paid basis in the summer semester and re-pass exams on them in order to increase his or her grade point average (GPA). With a positive result of re-passing the exam, the final score is again counted, which is recorded in the exam record and transcript. When calculating the average academic achievement score, the latest grades in the academic discipline are taken into account. The transcript records all the final assessments of the student, including the positive results of the re-examination. 7.12 A student left for the re-course shall study according to a previously accepted individual curriculum or a newly formed individual curriculum. 7.13 The student who has gained the minimum value of the transfer score and transferred to the next course of study and had academic backlog re-studies the relevant disciplines on a paid basis and liquidates academic backlog. 7.14 Only students with an "FX" rating are allowed to retake a positive assessment of the final control in order to increase it during the same period of interim assessment within two weeks as the examination session is completed on a paid basis. Students who have "F" grades for disciplines re-learn this discipline in the next academic period, if it is present in the schedule of classes or in the summer semester on a paid basis. 7.15 According to the Rules of Conduct during the exam, a student who has violated the rules of conduct for the exam (lack of a student's identification plastic card, use of flags, cell phones, electronic recording and reproducing devices, delay without good reason) is removed from the exam. He/she is rated "F," and he/she re-studies this discipline on a paid basis. For repeated violation of the rules of conduct during the exam, a student can be submitted for expulsion from the university on the basis of the Dean’s application. 7.16 Holders of educational grants left for re-course of study are deprived of an educational grant and continue their further training on a paid basis. Holders of educational grants who have scored a GPA transfer score and transferred to the next course of study with academic backlogs are not deprived of an educational grant Download 170.79 Kb.
