The topicality of the research is due to the fact that the new needs that confront the language as a result of the development of certain aspects of human activity lead to the enrichment of the vocabulary of the language by various means. These means primarily include verbalization of knowledge structures used in conceptualization of the external phenomenon.
Differences in the perception of the picture of the world by native speakers are verbally reflected in peculiar phenomena. In particular, a comparative analysis of compound words is important in identifying typological commonality and differences for studying the perception of the picture of the world by unrelated English and Uzbek peoples. Сompound words as a product of human cognition serve as a means of storing and translating the knowledge of native speakers about the world. The presence of several units in the process of verbalization of compound words proves the fact that they embody the principle of compactness (economy) in the language. The study of the cognitive basis of compound words in various languages makes it possible to clarify the issue related to the external world the relationship between language and consciousness, along with this, brings to the fore the issue of a cognitive approach to the study of compound words in linguistics. The study of compound words on the material of the English shows the exceptional relevance of this problem for cognitive linguistics in a comparative aspect.
The object of this work is the study of the formation of compound words in knowledge structures in English.
The subject of this work is the specific features of the words formed with the help of compounding as knowledge structure.
The aim of this work is to study words formed with the help of compounding and their features in cognitive linguistics,
The set goal implies the need to solve the following tasks:
- to identify the basic notion of Cognitive linguistics;
- to study the place of compounding in the word formation of the English language;
- to review the criteria for identifying knowledge structures;
- to consider the classification of compound words distinguished by various features;
- to carry out a structural, word-formation and semantic analysis of multicomponent composites.
