TEACHING METHODS
(uses relevant teaching methods, aids, materials, techniques, and technology; includes variety, balance, imagination, group involvement; uses examples that are simple, clear, precise, and appropriate; stays focused on and meets stated objectives)
There was a lot of variety and balance in the lesson as the teacher used a lot of visuals and also gave them scenarios in which they would have to make quick decisions. In that strategy, he reinforced the IPDE process and made sure students had a proper progression of decision making when under duress.
PRESENTATION
(establishes classroom environment conducive to learning; maintains eye contact; uses a clear voice, strong projection)
The teacher was a veteran and professional, so this was not a problem for him as he conducted the class.
MANAGEMENT
(uses time wisely; attends to course interaction; demonstrates leadership ability; maintains discipline and control; maintains effective e-platform management)
Everything was very organized and managed, with a clear progression in the material and how the information was relayed and conducted. Discipline and control was not an issue, but there did seem to be a discrepency in the class between the kids that were motivated to learn the material and those that were not interested in the class either because they weren’t immediately getting their license or were simply apathetic learners.
SENSITIVITY
(exhibits sensitivity to students' personal culture, gender differences and disabilities, responds appropriately in a non-threatening, pro-active learning environment)
The teacher was very sensitive in all of these issues and treated every potential driver respectfully and in a way that valued their education.
