COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE: Session 3 Overview & Welcome
This schedule is adjustable to your needs. Insert a break where you think it best fits, or do not have a set break time. It is your choice.
Remember to remind your mentees that they can use any language for the CoP portions today. 6Ps/TETE training should be in English only or ask much as possible. ☺

Slide 4 – Session 3 Morning Objectives
Let’s look at the CoP Session 3 Objectives we will cover this morning.
Slide 5
Activity 1: Review Giving Clear Instructions
Last session we discussed giving clear instructions to form groups and to give activity instructions. Our first activity today is to review what we learned.
[On the board, if not using the powerpoint]
Do you understand?
Do you know what to do?
Ask why these questions are NOT ICQs?
Then, hand out the cards with instruction situations and possible ICQs. In pairs, participants will match the situations with the possible ICQs.
Transition: Now that we have reviewed ICQs, you are going to observe a Master Class using the CoP Observation Rubric. You will observe for everything you have learned so far.

Mentees look at their rubrics, then
Have a Whole Class Discussion about the columns Mentees checked for each section of the Rubric and why.
What was one thing you thought was “well done” (no changes necessary)? Why?
What was one thing that “needs a little work”? Why?
What was one thing that “needs a lot of work”? Why?
Slide 8 – Activity 3
In pairs discuss the following questions about what you viewed:
Are all of the students speaking in full sentences during class?
How did the teacher regularly check to see if students were learning and able to meet objectives? If no, what could he/she have done?
Was there a starter routine? Did it work? How do you know?
Were the instructions clear? What ICQs did the teacher ask? If not clear, what suggestions do you have?
REMINDER: You will use the Observation Rubric to observe a master class, self-observation, and a peer’s teaching. The Rubric will help you find evidence that the teaching includes TETE module content.
TRANSITION: In yesterday’s session, we learned how to do a self-observation. There are 5 steps. Does anyone remember them?
