Slides 11 –Observations During CoP
As part of our CoP, you are expected to do 3 observations.
We will practice observing with the CoP Observation Rubric today. You just practiced a master class observation. We will now practice a self-observation. Next session we will practice a peer observation.
TRANSITION: Let’s learn how to do a self-observation.
SLIDE 12 – Self Observations
Here is a copy of the “CoP Self-Observation Reflection Instructions & Questions”. They can also be found in your Mentee Workbook.
These steps will help you when you get back to school. We will practice today.
Let’s read the steps for doing a self-observation:
Write a lesson plan or use one from your textbook.
Teach the lesson to your pupils. (If possible, videotape the lesson so you can watch it later.)
Answer the 5 self-observation self-reflection questions.
Complete the Observation Rubric.
Slide 13
What are the 5 questions you are going to ask yourself?
What part of my lesson did my students succeed at today?
What part of my lesson did students find challenging? What can I do to make it easier next time?
When in my lesson did students participate really well? Why?
Did my students understand my instructions today? How do I know? What can I do to make it easier to understand?
What are two things that I can do in my next lesson that might make it better than the lesson today?
