- The subject of the research work
Practical value of the work is that the results of research materials denoting differences between American and English spelling, for example, color versus colour, defense versus defense - are due to Webster. He also recorded American pronunciations and advocated that all the syllables in a word be enunciated: “necessary” and “secretary” not “necessary” and “secretary”.
The object of the research work is determined as the choice of research methods. English language learners in your classroom will also likely be exposed to formal and informal language learning. One way is to provide formal language instruction. Formal language instruction for ELL students includes many spheres and in accordance with these objects the following problems are lay down: - an established, consistent schedule of ELL classroom instruction; - specific goals and objectives for learning set by the teacher; - time spent outside the classroom with an ELL teacher. The subject of the research work is characterization by significant imagery of usage formal or informal English is, so they are widely used for performance, ELL teachers might also support the student in the classroom or help the classroom teacher modify instruction to accommodate the English Language Learning student. The urgency of research lies in the fact that the ELL students often receive structured support in school where they learn how to speak, read, and write in English, but they also learn English from other sources, like friends, media (such as TV), hearing conversations in public, or other informal opportunities. Learning informally is not structured like we saw with formal learning - there aren't specific goals, objectives and structure. Professor Lerer encourages you to step back and observe your own pronunciation. If you are from the South, do you pronounce the words pin and gem with the same vowel? Professor Lerer himself is from Brooklyn, but the sharpest elements of his accent were ironed out long ago by his mother, a speech therapist for the New York City schools. However, like many former dialect speakers, he can revert to his roots, and he demonstrates how he used to pronounce often and orphan the same way. English has come a long way since those first Germanic settlers crossed the North Sea to Britain. The words you use every day are like archaeological artifacts connecting our age to theirs. To study the history of this wonderful language with Professor Lerer is to experience the literature, politics, culture, ways of thought, and world outlook of a great civilization through its most precious legacy: its words. While formal language theory usually concerns itself with formal languages that are described by some syntactical rules, the actual definition of the concept "formal language" is only as above: a (possibly infinite) set of finite-length strings composed from a given alphabet, no more nor less. In practice, there are many languages that can be described by rules, such as regular languages or context-free languages. The notion of a formal grammar may be closer to the intuitive concept of a “language”, one described by syntactic rules. By an abuse of the definition, a particular formal language is often thought of as being equipped with a formal grammar that describes it. Download 64.57 Kb. Do'stlaringiz bilan baham: |
