The aim of the research is carried out a comparative analysis of microvascular 
changes in the retina and optic disc in the initial stage of glaucomatous optic 
neuropathy. 
Material and methods. 10 patients (10 eyes) aged 36 to 50 years (average age 
is 44.9±7.6 years) with a diagnosis of primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) stage 
I A (group 1) and 10 people (10 eyes) aged 50 to 65 years (average age is 56.8±5.1 
years) with a diagnosis of POAG I A (group 2) stage have participated in the survey. 
All patients underwent visometry, tonometry, biomicroscopy, gonioscopy, 
ophthalmoscopy with a Goldmann lens, computerized liminal perimetry (with

assessment of PSD and MD), as well as an examination on an optical coherence 
tomography with angiography (OCTA). 
Results of the research. In the analysis of the indicator of density of the 
microcirculatory bed on OCTA it was revealed that capillary density on the surface 
vascular plexuses in the macular zone and peripapillary capillaries of the optic nerve 
head (OND) decreased up to 39.5±1.5 and 41.8±1.7 in group 1 and up to 39.1±3.5 
and 37.0±3.0 in group 2. The study of ocular blood flow in glaucoma using the 
Angio-OCT method revealed a significant decrease in hemodynamic parameters of 
the optic disc and macular zone (blood flow area density) in patients with POAG 
(primary open-angle glaucoma). When compared to younger patients more 
significant decrease in these indicators was found in older patients. 
Conclusion 
1. Optical coherence tomography was used to reveal quantitative indicators of 
hemodynamic changes in patients with primary open-angle glaucoma. 
2. A significant decrease in blood flow density on the surface vascular plexuses in the 
macular zone and peripapillary capillaries of the optic disc was revealed in older patients.
