The Model 570A Analogue and Model 575A Digital hand held IC Testers From B&K Precision are compact, hand held, and battery powered testers offer advanced Functionality and ease of use. The 2-line x 16 character dot matrix LCD shows the result of the test as a PASS or FAIL, together with individual pin diagnostics, test made, and possible equivalents. The Model 570A Analogue IC Tester’s built-in test library includes common Analogue I Cs including op-amps, comparators, voltage regulators, voltage references, analogue switches & multiplexes, opto-isolators & couplers, and audio ICs. Besides that, this Model 575A Digital IC Tester’s built-in test library includes broad range of TTL, CMOS, memory, LSI, interface and other devices of up to 40 pins.

    1. REVIEW OF INTEGRATED CIRCUIT.

An integrated circuit, or an IC is a tiny small chip that can function as an amplifier, oscillator, timer, microprocessor, or even computer memory. An IC is a small wafer, usually made of silicon, that can hold anywhere from hundreds to millions of transistors, resistors, and capacitors. Furthermore, by comparing it to standard printed circuits board which use discrete components, ICs are of extremely small physical size, of very small weight, reduced cost, high reliability, low power consumption, increased response time and speed , easy replacement and higher yield.

  • .3.1. Characteristics of an IC

a) Some static characteristics
Low level input (logic 0) and high level input (logic 1) are predefined for each IC by a voltage or current range, so we have:

  • The supply voltage (Vccor VDD)

  • The supply current (Iccor IDD)

  • The short circuit output current(/os)

  • The input/output logic level voltages

  • The low level input voltage (VIL) which is a voltage level recognized by the IC as a low input state, the range of low level input voltage (VILMIN) and the maximum low input voltage(VILM4x).

  • The high level input voltage (VIH) which is a voltage level recognized by the IC as a high input state, as that of the low input, we also have the minimal high level input voltage (VIHMIN) and the maximum high level input voltage (VIHMAX').

  • The low output voltage (V0L) which is a voltage level recognized by the IC as a low output state, the range of low level output voltages defined by the minimal low output voltage (V0LMIN) and the maximum low output voltage (V0LMAX).

  • The high level output voltage (V0H) which is a voltage level recognized by the IC as a High output state. We also have the minimal high level output voltage (V0HMIN) and the maximum high level output voltages (V0HMAX).
