Aim 
In this project, the aim is to develop Variable Voltage Variable Frequency (VVVF) in 
a closed loop model system in MATLAB/Simulink and then implement into hardware 
configuration to understand the performance. The motor speed can be controlled, by 
using a microcontroller. Where the system is able to tolerate the certain amount of 
error and adjust the speed accordingly.

Project Objectives 
The objectives of this project are: 
a) To design a VVVF switching table system with PI speed control to accurately 
adjust desired speed.
b) To develop the IM motor control hardware setup for implementing the VVVF 
controller system. 
c) To compare the result from simulation based on MATLAB / Simulink with 
hardware in terms of speed (rpm) IM motor.

Scopes of study 
This task is fulfilled based on the following limitations: 
a) Communicate MATLAB / Simulink with the TMS320F28335 Delfino 
Microcontroller.
b) Modelling system designed based on MATLAB/Simulink version R2019b 
c) Model simulation based on the Induction Motor parameters which is 240V 
50Hz, Rated speed (1500rpm), Rated power (18W). 



d) The input of the inverter is 30V (DC) and its output voltage is 240V (AC). 
e) Communicate the VVVF system with CCS V6 to control the behavior of speed 
sensor feedback by using Proportional Integral (PI) Controller.

Project outline 
This project report comprises five chapters. Chapter 1 will discuss about the 
background of the study by giving a general overview of the research project. The 
research problem statements are introduced at the same time to provide a distinctive 
insight into the study. In addition, the aims and scope of the project are clarified to 
provide the different steps taken to carry out this study.
The VVVF system is given in 
literature review will be discussed in Chapter 2. The power inverter, the MATLAB 
program, and the TMS320F28335 microcontroller C200 Texas Instrument are also 
clarified.
The methodology strategy used for the project is discussed in Chapter 3. The 
project flow chart, software design and hardware setup has been explained.
Chapter 4 
is discussed and analyzed the results obtained from both software and hardware. 
Finally, Chapter 5 will discuss and provide with the conclusion and recommendation 
of the project.
