LITERATURE REVIEW 
2.1 
Introduction 
The research studies and research papers that related to this project will be discussed 
in this chapter. Reviews of induction motor system, Variable voltage variable 
frequency (VVVF), Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller, Texas 
Instrument C2000 TMS320F28335 microcontroller, inverter, and gate driver also 
explain in this chapter. 
2.2 
Previous Research Projects 
This subsection generally covers the literature review from different sources related 
to the development of Variable Voltage Variable Frequency (VVVF). 
2.2.1 Implement of Variable voltage variable frequency (VVVF) Drive for a 
Three Phase Induction Motor 
This paper [14] presented about estimating a slip in fluid load and the VVVF system 
based on SPWM. The problem state for this paper where it is complicated to estimate 
the stator flux. Other than that, it is costly to adopt the flux sensor as an additional 
accessory. By simplifying the slip in estimation and VVVF the complex and economic 
problem is solved. Method use is based on Voltage/Frequency (V/F) table scheme, 
selected by electrical angular frequency simplifying the slip estimation which is 
applied at 60

of modulation in Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation (SPWM) 



technique. Other than that, a Proportional Integral (PI) controller with V/F table that is 
selected using electrical angular frequency method is used in this paper. The whole 
algorithms for control were implemented using the PIC18F4431 integer 
microprocessor. Based on the calculation and experiment results, the tact time of 
simplified slip estimation was fewer than conventional open loop V/F scheme. The 
result obtained successfully achieved the proposed idea for this project.
