Draft National Tourism Policy 2022 Final July 12

11.8.4. Product Specific Roadmaps
The Policy recognizes India’s huge potential for developing a range of tourism
products and need for detailed roadmaps for developing these tourism products
largely through private sector participation. Some of the Indian tourism products,
which have to be developed and diversified have been given in Annexure-II.
Identification of new innovative products will continue to evolve with time and the
Ministry will work with the States in prioritizing the tourism products. The Ministry
has already prepared detailed strategies for promotion of MICE, Rural Tourism,
Adventure Tourism, Eco-tourism, medical and wellness tourism. Detailed roadmaps
for various other tourism products will be prepared during the implementation of the
Policy.

Chapter 13 – Promoting Investment in Tourism Sector
12.1.
Public investment to create enabling core infrastructure
The Policy envisages that the Government will have to invest in enabling core
infrastructure before private sector finds it attractive to invest. The public
investment under various schemes of the Ministry will be channelized accordingly.
12.2.
Private Sector to lead destination and product development
One of the key guiding principles of the Policy is that tourism growth in the country
will be led by private sector. Private Sector has a crucial role in developing world class
tourist destinations and products across various segments such as:
(i)
Accommodation
(ii)
Food and Beverage Services
(iii)
Transportation
(iv)
Tourist Attractions both natural and cultural
(v)
Recreational and adventure activities
(vi)
Events and conferences
(vii)
Travel Trade
(viii) Other Tourism Services
Apart from developing new products and undertaking greenfield projects, Private
Sector participation is also required for Operation and Management of various
existing and new tourism assets being created under various schemes.
