Teacher 1: Well, firstly, a teacher has to learn to relate. I think
relationship-based teaching and learning is very important.
We learn together. I mean, learning alone is really useless.
What are you going to do with the knowledge? Actually,
technology has allowed everyone, through social networks, to
engage in what’s called ‘cooperative intelligence.’
Secondly, a teacher should be open, open to students and
new ideas. And we shouldn’t be afraid of taking risks and
failing sometimes. We can’t always do everything perfectly,
especially if we’re doing something for the first time.
But probably the most important skill is – a modern teacher
should be able to allow learning, just let the kids learn
facilitate their learning. In other words, don’t teach at them,
let them learn. They’re learners, so we should allow them to
do their work. Just standing in front of them and talking to
them about the subject does not mean that they’re learning
anything. So, I think it’s really, really important for us to learn
to let go.
