Er … if we want to be effective communicators, we should
know at least the fundamentals of this theory in order to build
a
good rapport with people, give the right signals ourselves
and be able to read nonverbal cues of others. But … a word
of warning … It’s dangerous to make universal, general rules
about
all people; some behaviours reveal individual traits
… And more importantly, nonverbal messages are greatly
influenced by culture. For example,
the meaning of a gesture
in one culture may be very different in another culture.
So, to expand our knowledge in this area, your team project
work will be to research peculiarities of nonverbal behaviour
in different cultures and present your results in class. The
