Lecturer: In my opinion, a teacher should be a lifelong learner. 
There are several reasons for this. Firstly, technology is 
progressing rapidly. Young people are extremely good at 
picking up trends and hold in low esteem those who are not 
up-to-date with technological progress, and are not prepared 
to learn. A survey we did last term showed that students, with 
rare exceptions, rate the teachers who are on good terms with 
technology higher. So, if you aren’t up to speed all the time, 
you’ll lose your standing as a teacher. 
Secondly, learning something new allows a teacher to 
understand what it’s like to be a student and can use 
this experience to build rapport with their students, and 
communicate well with them, which are necessary for 
successful teaching.
Then, there is a lot of new information about the subject 
matter and teaching methods is always appearing. To be up-
to-date and interesting to your students you need to follow 
developments in both of these closely. So, a teacher should 
never stop learning.
