POD CASTING
On the web, there are even specific podcasts that are for ESL learners and these can include pronunciation for particular needs of students. Podcasts can be uploaded or downloaded, and this audio helps the learner familiarise with the target language. Teachers can use them as useful audio material that can be used in class for activities like discussions. Podcast surely aids students' communication skills. The integration of audio files known as "pod casting" allows us to use our own resources both within and outside of the classroom. Students listen to their preferred music files on their ipods. In the same way they have their education in the form of entertainment. Podcasting allows students to use their tech-based entertainment systems for educational purposes. With it we are able to move away from the traditional face-to-face training without losing the student-to-trainer relationship that is so effective in any learning process. Podcasts enables students and teachers to share information with anyone at anytime. An absent student can download the podcast of recorded lesson and is able to access the missed lectures. They could also access lectures of experts which may not otherwise be available because of geographical distance and other reasons.
QUICK LINK PEN
Learners may copy and save printed text and Internet links using the Quick Link Pen. It facilitates the flow of data to computers and gives readers access to a built-in dictionary to determine the meaning of words. It appears that using this kind of equipment is more practical. Translation tools like GO Translator and Bablefish are now available thanks to recent advancements in machine translation.
QUICKTIONARY
It looks like a pen. It enables readers to quickly scan words for definitions and translations to display on their own LCD screens. With the use of technology like Enounce and Sound-Editor, students may change the speech tempo of listening materials to aid understanding. These tools also provide the speech wave spectrum and graphic representations of mouth and tongue movement to facilitate learning and improve pronunciation.
Technology is most often successfully used when it is "invisible," readily available, and simple to use. Pete Sharma discusses some of the software and tools he use in his technology-enhanced language instruction.
Using technology has always been an important part of my teaching, even in the pre-digital age. Like many early adopters, I get super-excited by the ‘wow’ factor of new technology. However, some technology (like VR – virtual reality) is still quite challenging to use successfully. In my own teaching, I’m happy to incorporate tools which are rather more familiar. In this post, I share some of the apps and programs I use and reflect on why I use them.
