Activity 3 Play “Sleep!”
Objectives: to do physical exercise and energise the pupils; to revise the commands from Unit 6, Lesson 3; to introduce the new command “Sleep!” Remind the pupils about how the robot went for magic apples and offer the pupils to go for magic apples themselves. Remind the pupils that at first, the robot went along the road. So give the command “Go!” (After each command, you need to say “Stop!” to stop the pupils). Next, remind the pupils that the robot jumped over the bumps in the swamp. So give the command “Jump!”. Then the pupils go to a beautiful meadow with flowers. So give the command “Run!”. Next, the pupils have to swim across the river. Command “Swim!”. Then introduce a new command “Sleep!”. Here explain to the pupils that we are not robots, therefore, we must have a rest and sleep. When we get to the tree, we climb up. “Climb!” Take the magic apples. With the help of the magic apples, we can fly. “Fly!” Post-activity Activity 4 Play “It’s Winter”. Objectives: to consolidate the new vocabulary and the structure Do a jig-saw activity with cut pictures of four seasons. Divide the class into four groups and explain to the pupils that they will now get cut flashcards of different colours: green, red, yellow and white. Then ask what they think there should be on the flashcards. After getting the correct answer, sum up and say that it is 4 seasons. Further, explain that each team must collect a coherent picture of their season. So distribute the seasons for the teams. Each team gets a coloured circle of one of four colours: green, red, yellow and white. This means that they need to collect the pictures of different seasons of the corresponding colour. Each team must as soon as possible: 1) choose only the pictures of the same colour from a pile of cut pictures; 2) lay out a coherent picture of the cut pieces; 3) When they finish the picture, as a whole team they must say their season, for example, “It‟s winter”. During the task, you should help the children choose the right pictures and remind them what to say. You can keep all the pictures in your hands. Quickly take one and show the class. Teams must take their colour. You should correct the children when needed. At the end of the task, each team must answer the question “What season is it?” Homework: Explain to the pupils that at home they should draw and colour the picture on the right hand page.
