If only past perfect-O’tgan zamon uchun qaniydi shunday bo’lganida manosida
If only you hadn’t said, “Liar”! (But he said).

FAIRLY and RATHER


  • Иккала суз хам «бир оз, сал, озгина, уртача» (moderately) маънони бериб, fairly асосан булишли мазмундаги сифат ёки равишлар (bravely, good, nice, well) олдидан, лекин rather булишсиз ёки маъкул эмаслик мазмунидаги сифатлар олдидан келади (bad, stupidly, ugly):

Tom is fairly clever, but Peter is rather stupid.

I walk fairly fast but Ann walks rather slowly.

He was fairly relaxed; she was rather tense.

A fairly interesting film; a rather boring book..
NOTE: fast, slow, thin, thick, hot, cold каби сифатлар аввалидан fairly ёки rather кулланилганда мазмуннинг узгаришига эътибор беринг.

The soup is fairly hot. (the speaker likes hot soup)

This soup is rather hot. (it is too hot)

His speech is fairly slow. (I like it).

His speech is rather slow. (I need faster speech).

rather a + disappointment, disadvantage, nuisance, pity, shame, joke
It’s rather a nuisance (= a little inconvenient) that we can’t park here.
