Appendix

Appendices are used

• 
  to present a questionnaire used to collect data,
  
• 
  to present long data extracts,
  
• 
  to present extended examples and
  
• 
  to present additional information on the data
  

that is not essential to understanding the results and that would disturb the flow of reading.

If we use an appendix, it should be mentioned in the text, but the reader should be able to read and follow the argument of the paper without having to refer to it.

Appendices should have separate numbering

• 
  Appendix C and etc.,
  

but continuous page numbers with the rest of the paper.
Data presentation methods

For many people numbers and statistics are rather dry, dull and difficult to comprehend and some studies can often produce complex data that needs to be presented in an effective and digestible way to maintain clarity.

The most useful methods here are visual ones-figures and tables-whereby we can have an overview of a great deal of the results at a glance.

When we use figures and tables, we must number them and give them a brief explanatory title. Then we need to mention every one of them in the text, for example, ‘See figure 3’.
